Mission readiness starts with reform.  The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) was created to ensure military families with special needs children receive the support they need to thrive—but systemic inefficiencies, waste, and fragmented care have left too many families behind. These failures not only undermine trust and well-being, they contribute directly to lost talent, decreased retention, and weakened force resilience.

This virtual roundtable brings together military leaders, policy experts, and caregiver voices to spotlight the urgent need for EFMP innovation, and that the administration is in a unique position to fix this program once and for all. By cutting waste and centering family readiness as a pillar of defense strategy, the Department of Defense has a rare opportunity to both protect families and improve operational strength.
